When Should One Seek Treatment?

We all sometimes experience periods of sadness, stress, or a sense of being stuck. In such situations, one option is to seek professional help. There are those who seek therapy in order to deal with a specific problem, and there are those who seek treatment for more general reasons, such as a feeling that something is missing in their lives, or a sense of lack of self-fulfillment.

 Sometimes one session is enough. Therapy often helps conceptualize "what's wrong", and one might discover that the problem that has plagued them is relatively simple, and that the very act of dealing with it alone has intensified it. In other cases, the first meeting opens up broader issues that can be worked on together. In any case, receiving the opinion and the attentive ear of a professional can contribute significantly to one’s quality of life.
